Who We Are

Goodwill Legacy Group is a growing, multi-regional network of scalable nonprofit organizations designed to address complex social challenges with depth, collaboration, and long-term impact. By aligning expertise and resources across regions, we invest in the interconnected drivers of economic mobility and family stability.

Rooted in the mission of Goodwill, we create pathways to meaningful work, stable housing, lifelong learning, accessible health services, and the foundational resources that support long-term well-being. These investments generate lasting momentum, advancing economic mobility and strengthening families across generations.

As we expand into new regions, we intentionally design for scale, sustainability, and adaptability. By sharing knowledge, strengthening partnerships, and reducing duplication, we increase regional capacity while remaining responsive to evolving community needs and mission-aligned opportunities. Our model allows us to deepen impact in our core focus areas while thoughtfully integrating new strategies that advance stability, resilience, and opportunity.

Together, we are building a future that lasts—for individuals, for families, and for communities—through systems, partnerships, and investments designed to grow stronger over time.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Goodwill Legacy Group?

Goodwill Legacy Group is a multi-regional nonprofit network designed to tackle systemic challenges through a "locally grounded, nationally informed" model. By connecting employment, health, housing, and education across Indiana, Illinois, and Puerto Rico, we aren't just running programs—we’re building the systems that allow people and families to thrive for generations.

Why was Goodwill Legacy Group created?

Goodwill Legacy Group was created to better align the resources and experience of Goodwill of Central & Southern Indiana, Goodwill of Central Illinois, and Goodwill de Puerto Rico to strengthen and scale the impact each can have on their local communities.

When was Goodwill Legacy Group started?

Goodwill Legacy Group was legally formed in 2026; however, Goodwill of Central & Southern Indiana and Goodwill of Central Illinois have histories dating back to the early 1930s. So, while Goodwill Legacy Group is “new”, the programs and services it brings to local communities have roots going back nearly 100 years.

How does Goodwill Legacy Group structure improve the impact?

Goodwill Legacy Group’s structure allows us to be more efficient and strategic.

We find efficiencies through collaboration. By reducing redundancy and maximizing administrative strengths, we ensure that more resources go exactly where they belong: into our communities. In other words, we are maximizing the ROI of “good."

Further, Goodwill Legacy Group operates under a “Locally Grounded, Nationally Informed” Model. Our strategy is informed by data and experience from across our entire network, it is then tailored to the needs of our local communities in Indiana, Illinois, and Puerto Rico.

Will Goodwill stores change?

Shoppers and donors at our Goodwill retail stores in Indiana, Illinois and Puerto Rico should not experience any changes to regular operations in their area. However, we will be investing in our locations, so some shoppers may see an upgrade to their local stores as a result of Goodwill Legacy Group’s resource-pooling.

Is Goodwill Legacy Group looking to expand further?

Goodwill Legacy Group is built to endure and provide scalable solutions to address complex problems. We are intentionally designing for sustainability. When you partner with or support Goodwill Legacy Group, you are investing in a proven model that is built to adapt to evolving community needs while remaining focused on long-term well-being.

So, if an opportunity presents itself to sustainably expand our impact to more communities, we will always welcome the conversation to bring more good to more people.
